Color-coded Family Pics

Dear Elisha and Meimei,

One of the traditions that your papa and I started when we reunited as a family in 2007 was our FAMILY PICTORIAL on special occassions.  By reunited I am referring to living together under the same roof.  As you know, I stayed in Bacolod from March 2005 – May 2007 while your pa worked in China. He went home once in 2005, twice in 2006 and in 2007 June 1, ahia and I moved to China with him.  Since then, we took the time and spent extra for the studio pictorials.  Oh well,  I would always ask for it and your pa would willingly obey. 🙂

Here’s our first studio pictorial taken on EJ’s 2nd birthday.
NOTE: Take a look at Papa 🙂

July 2007

The second was in 2008, still on ahia’s birthday.

NOTE: Still, observe papa 🙂

July 2008

In 2009 we went back to Bacolod for Meimei’s birth and stayed there for over a year.  This picture was taken on EJ’s 4th birthday and Meimei’s dedication.  We didn’t have the time to go to the studio since your papa only stayed for a short time, just to be here for these 2 special events.
NOTE: Check out papa again…

July 2009

In 2010, we all went to China after ahia’s birthday so we had our first studio pictorial (first with Meimei that is) on papa’s birthday.
NOTE: Do you seem to notice what I’m talking about papa? 🙂

Aug 2010

WHY do we do this you may wonder… Although we have lots and lots and I mean really lots of family photos, I make sure we have these studio pictorials simply because I like having photos taken in the studio.  The lightings are fantastic and you get to wear really nice costumes, which are out of the ordinary I must say.  You’re both growing really fast and when you see these pictures that we have, you’ll see happy memories growing up…

Here’s our latest studio pictorial as of this time taken on Meimei’s 2nd birthday, here in China.

April 2011

NOTE: You see, as you grow, papa GROWS too… 🙂 hihihi…

AND if you notice, we wear coordinated colors in all of our photoshoots, haha.  Oh well, as what I always tell our family and friends, that’s one of the things that your papa has to live with… AND that’s what you get from having a “ma-arte” mama 🙂 So you see? Being “ma-arte” has it’s advantages when put into good use 🙂

I love you both!

Mama

God’s Love

Dear Elisha,

Even before you were born, your papa and I have always prayed for you.  If there’s one thing we desire the most, it’s for you to grow up as a man who honors God above all.  So since birth, I always made sure you grow up knowing God, His word and His love.

A few weeks back as I was tidying up your drawings (checking which ones to throw and which ones to keep), which I usually do on a monthly basis, I saw this drawing that brought tears to my eyes… The moment I saw it I was reassured that giving up everything I gave up was and is all worth it, because you’re growing knowing what God’s Love is… and to your young mind this is what God’s Love means…

God's Love

After wiping my tears I called you and asked what your drawings mean, starting with this one and your explanation made me teary eyed… “God’s love is our family because you take care of me and Meimei.”  I then asked how about papa and you answered, “Papa takes care of you and me and Meimei too.” Even right now as I’m writing about this drawing I’m crying.  I am overjoyed that as your parents, we were able to make you understand what God’s love is… At the same time humbled that in spite our shortcomings, you still felt God’s love through us.

As you grow up EJ you’ll learn more about God and who He is, and you’ll understand more of His unfailing love.  Mama and papa’s love may fail, but God’s love won’t and no matter where you go and what you do, it will always be available for you… In times you’re up, thank Him for His love that brought you where you are.  In times you’re low, thank Him for His love that never lets you go.  His love has carried me through my toughest times and definitely, His love will be with you anytime, anywhere.

I love you son… and may God;s love, grace and wisdom continue to fill your papa and me as we train you and Meimei in the way you should go…

Love,

Mama

Me and My Doll

Dear Elisha,

Last Jan. 31, 2010 you joined the Me and My Doll contest at the Robinsons Place Bacolod.  The requirement was for each child to wear costumes of their favorite character – a doll or a superhero.  Most of the girls were Princesses from different movies while most of the boys were action figures.  Here you are together with the other contestants while waiting for the contest to start.

waiting for the contest to start

Here are the Princesses in their lovely pink gowns.

Princesses in Pink

And of course, here you are my SPIDER BOY… And I think you should know this, YOU WON FIRST PLACE! haha… Just take a look at your picture and you’ll probably know why the judges thought you deserved to win.  It brings a smile to my face looking at you son.

Spiderboy

It was actually your first time to join in a contest and glad you won.  You didn’t have the most expensive costume.  Infact, your spiderman toy only cost me P20!  But you made it to the top because you were confidently showed them what spider man did, including the expression of your face!  The host even said something like: WHOA! I’m so proud of you Peter Parker… ooops, I’m so proud of you Elisha!

Love,

Mama

Purple @ 31

Dear Elisha and Meimei,

Meimei, this picture was taken on my 31st birthday last 2008. You’re 4 months in my tummy so this is my first birthday with you if I may say, hihi.  And of course, I’m wearing my favorite color 🙂

Purple @ 31

And look at you EJ… you and papa gave me what we call the samwits kiss… Oh how I love this happy family kiss that we always share, usually at bedtime but done anytime we feel like it 🙂  We each take turn to be in the middle and it’s so much fun doing it that you sometimes would like to have 2 turns 🙂

Happy Family Samwits Kiss

And since we were in China at that time, we just had a simple celebration with our “family” away from home – Auntie Imee, Auntie Cathy and Uncle Jon. Auntie Cindy wasn’t able to come so we missed her that night.  These friends have been with us through our toughest times and because of them, life in a foreign land became more beautiful.  I miss them very much.

China Family

EJ, they all love you… Mei, auntie Cathy is your ninang 🙂  So kikay and inta just like your mama, hihi.

Love,

Mama

Tickle Time

Dear Ahia and Meimei,

Your a-em started a “meme” (hihi, it’s a blogging term) and I’m joining it… It’s called LOVING MAMA MOMENTs.  So for my 1st entry, I am writing you about our tickle time. It’s that 5-10 minutes a day that’s dedicated to tickling each other.  I tickle you and you get to tickle me as well… It’s so much fun!  There are even times that you’re the ones who initiate the tickling and tell me, “MAMA, TICKLE TIME!”  This is enough proof that you love it as much as I do 🙂

Usually, we tickle the neck, the “kili-kili” and ears.  You’re both very ticklish so as long as you’re already laughing, almost anywhere I touch you, you giggle, scream and burst in laughter.  No matter what the day brings, I always make sure we have our tickle time before we hug and kiss goodnight.  So here you are in one of our tickle times 🙂

Tickle Time Mei

Oh, by the way, sometimes, papa joins the tickle fun too ;-D

Mama

Expensive Mistake

Dear Elisha,

I’m writing this letter using papa’s itouch, hihi. It’s finally mine! But I think he’s giving this to you on your birthday ( I think ).  But it depends if I’m letting it go. Hmmm… a few hugs and kisses might just convince me.  Oh, for your information, you got banned from using this since November 2010 due to a very expensive mistake that you committed.  Wanna know what & how much? Ok then read on.

You and papa have this game called Fishes.  In that game you need to buy more fish, corals, pearls & others.  However, those are expensive stuffs so papa didn’t buy any.  For example the pearls cost $99, some fish cost $9.99 and likewise for the corals.  Papa didn’t buy any of those because he thought it was expensive.  But guess what?! You did!!!  You purchased a total of $206!!! Of pearls, fish and other stuff to decorate your ocean!!! How did it happen?  What was papa’s reaction?  Go on reading son…

In the past, papa bought something from itunes and his credit card details were saved in it, however, to purchase something, you have to key in his password.  When we asked you what did you type for the password, you told us papa’s password!  You memorized it because one time, according to you, you saw him key in “the” password as you were beside him.  Talk about memory huh?!  Papa underestimated your capacity to remember but with what happened I’m sure he won’t do that ever again!  🙂
Now let’s go to his reaction…  Knowing your papa, he kept his cool, kept quiet, though he was angry.  He immediately logged in to our credit card billing statement online.  That’s where we learned the $206!!!  I then thought of a way to let you understand what you did by telling you that you had to pay papa using your money that you got from your allowance and rewards.  You had to understand facing the consequence of something you did and since it’s about money, you had to learn it through your money as well.  Oh how you cried when I told you that you had to pay all the money that you earned for 3 months!  You cried so hard and said, “If I don’t have money how can I buy a gift for you on your birthday?  Christmas gifts for you, papa and Meimei?  Birthday gift for angkong and ama?”  It broke my heart and I too almost cried when I heard those words from you.  You had a hard time accepting the consequence of what you did, good thing papa thought of an illustration of  how much money was used. He said, ” With “that” money you can buy 10 boxes of Tipo (that was your favorite biscuit that time), you could eat nearly 20 KFC bucket meals and eat 100 times in Jollibee!”  Funny you commented, ” 100 times in Jollibee?! That’s a lot!”  So we then knew you understood…

After a long time of discussion and explanation, plus a few bucket of tears, you finally agreed to pay off your debt to Citibank. Yes son, it’s your debt because it was your purchase so you had to pay for it using your money.  Although papa gave you some discount because your savings wasn’t enough to pay for everything.

The next day I asked your papa how exactly he felt, he told me he felt like he had a gout attack for 1 whole day!  It was painful but he recovered, haha.  As for you young man, you learned a very important lesson and I’m so proud of you for being man enough to face the consequences which were paying for your debt using your savings, not playing computer for 15 days, and banned from using itouch for a loooooong time! Up to this date you are still banned and though you keep telling me you miss papa’s itouch, you faithfully followed the deal of not touching it. So I guess you can touch the itouch on your birthday, let’s see about that 🙂

It happened 5 months ago yet you still remember what took place last November and I’m blogging this so you’ll remember for life and though it was an expensive mistake, we pray it will spare you from making much more expensive ones and more serious when you’re an adult. As I told your papa, ” We have been blessed with a smart son, so we have to be careful to teach him to use his gift properly”.  When you read this son, know that I am so proud of you that at a young age of 5, you took responsibility of your actions.

Love,

Mama

Missing EJ

Dear Elisha,

Today you are 5 years, 4 months and 13 days old to be exact. You went to school with your papa on a rainy day. Temperature outside is about 10 degrees but I let you wear the jacket that auntie Lily gave you (it’s very warm) because tonight, the temperature might drop to 3 degrees. You were coughing a bit and I guess your body’s reacting to the changing season – from Autumn to Winter. As usual, you have your juice with Super C in your bag.

While I was preparing you for school, something was going on in my heart already… I realized you were just a kid and you needed so much love and care… but sometimes, I expect you to behave like an adult… So when you left, tears rolled down my cheeks and I want to write this down so you get to read this someday and know that mama loves you very much.

Sometimes when you’re asleep in the middle of the night, you don’t know it but I kiss your forehead, run my fingers through your hair, look at your face and thank God He gave YOU to us to love and to nurture. I also ask Him to help me because I’m not a perfect mom and there were times I’ve been too hard on you. There was even a time when you told me, “Mom, you hurt my heart when you get very angry at me,” it so struck me that when you and Meimei fell asleep, I read for almost 2 hours and learned about 5 year old kids… and that’s when I learned that everything about you at this stage was normal… and that I needed to change my approach – which was actually very hard to do and until now I am still learning. But know that each time I “pa-pa your bulele” or release some not so nice words to you, it hurts me too. Forgive me EJ if there were times I wasn’t the “funny” mama that you always call me. Moms got hard days too you know, but that isn’t a reason for me to give you one also. I want you to know that I am so proud of how loving a son and a brother you are, and for that, I will be forever thankful to God.

For the record, I miss you each time we’re not together. I miss your smile, your smell, you hair, your hugs and kisses that you give me whenever you feel like it. I miss singing and watching videos with you, your “kiti-kiti” moves, your “kakulitan” – I miss you and everything about you EJ. I even miss reminding you to chew and swallow your food and stop jumping on the bed 🙂 You know I miss you ’cause each time you come home we tell each other how we missed each other during the day, but it’s not as detailed as this one 🙂 So there it goes, when I say I miss you, it’s everything – the good and the not so good parts of our day.

I love you mister Elisha 🙂 and today, I TERRIBLY MISS YOU!

Love,

Mama
