For my birthday letter for you, I want to share with you how you came into this world… Ooops, not really the details of HOW you were made, but just a background of the things that took place before, during and after your birth. So read on ok? 🙂
It was in the year 2002 when in my prayer time a little voice whispered to me that my first born will be a boy and that his name shall be ELISHA JOEY. Elisha is a prophet in the Old Testament and his name also signifies double portion anointing. Joey is obviously from your papa’s name. So in short, your name means double portion of your papa, but of course, with a touch of me 🙂
When your pa and I got married in 2003, we decided to have a baby after we have taken some time to enjoy our being couple but also, before I reach 27 years old. We started our baby project September of 2004. Your papa was already 27 and I was about to turn 27 also in December so we were on the last trip. I remember very well I had a pregnancy test end of November and the result was NEGATIVE… I prayed so hard and reminded God I am expecting that on my 27th birthday, HIS birthday gift to me will be a POSITIVE result! December 10, 2004 came. I woke up 6am and immediately did my pregnancy test. I went out of the toilet running and almost wanted to shout because indeed it was POSITIVE!!! I woke your papa up and told him I was pregnant! Well, knowing how “palatulog” he is, he simply said: ” That’s already my birthday gift for you!” Of course he just wanted to annoy me by saying that… 🙂 Around 10am that same day I visited my OB and had another pregnancy test in her clinic and again it showed POSITIVE! yippee!!!
March 2005 I had an ultrasound in Bacolod because at that time, your papa was on his way to China and before leaving, he wanted to be sure of the gender of our child. And the result showed, of course, a boy. Your papa was very proud and happy because you are the very first male LO in your generation. He was so excited to share the news with your Ama, Angkong and Thima. By the way, one of the reasons we decided to have a baby already was your papa wanted so much to give them their grandchild so they can enjoy you while they’re still strong and able to run! 🙂
On your 8th month, I attempted to change your name to GIAN JOEY or GIAN ELISHA. As you know, all my brothers have GIAN in their names, as well as your cousins in the Boyero side. So I wanted you to be “in” and carry that GIAN too. However, God has other plans… One early morning I woke up and in my heart I felt like God was telling me NOT to change your name so I obeyed. That very same morning, your papa (who was already in China) told me that during his prayer time the same thing was impressed in his heart and that is NOT to change your name. It was then final, we shall name you ELISHA JOEY.
July 23, 2005 at 08:36pm you were born into this wonderful world. The moment my OB was done, I immediately asked for my phone and told your papa that you’re already out and we’re both safe. Thank You LORD! 🙂 During your birth your Auntie Isis went in the Delivery Room and took a video of me giving birth! So even if your papa wasn’t around, he was able to see how you came out! 🙂 Your Tita Lenlen also took a lot of pictures and videos in the nursery. I am so thankful they were there to document your first few hours of life outside my tummy.
I’m not sure if it was that night your Koko Gigi sent photos to your papa. The following day he called me up and asked me this exact question: “NGAA KATIGULANG SANG TSURA SANG ATUN BATA HAW?” I still smile everytime I remember that day because if you really take a look at your photos when you were newly born, you’ll know what I mean 🙂 It’s funny because at that time, I thought you were so cute! But after you’ve grown, whenever we watch your photos, we would laugh! hihihi…
You’ve really grown EJ… Your papa and I are so proud of you. We are confident that as long as we train you up in the instructions of the Lord, as long as we teach you how to love, honor and worship God, you’ll grow to be the ambassador that you were called to become. At a young age you have shown traits and potentials of becoming somebody great in your generation. Our heart’s desire is for you to be a testimony of God’s goodness in our lives and that you become a man who fears the Lord. Always remember that you are not an accident and you have a destiny to fulfill. No matter where the road leads you my son, be strong and take courage, do not fear nor be dismayed… For the Lord our God will guide you and His Word will light your way.
We love you son… Happy birthday handsome 🙂 (wink)
